Scouting In Devon
What’s your next adventure?
Scouting offers fun, challenge and adventure with over 200 activities from Archery to Zorbing. We believe in helping our members fulfil their potential by working in teams, learning by doing and thinking for themselves. We give people of every background the chance to stretch themselves, learn new skills and make life long friends.
What is Youth Shaped?
Would you like to give your opinions on the issues in Scouting which really affect you? Well now you can, Youth Shaped Scouting allows for all Scouts aged 6-25 to have a say on the Scouting in Devon and their Local area.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR YOU / YOUNG PEOPLE?
As a Youth member of Devon Scouting you will be able to have a say on the issues in Scouting which affect you. This will be on a Local, County and National level and is for all Youth members of Scouting from Beavers to Network.
If you have any questions please feel free to get in contact with the County Youth Shaped Team via email at email@example.com or Like us on Facebook and Follow us on Twitter.
If you want to have your say and get involved with Youth Shaped Scouting in Devon look out for any opportunities via the Devon Scouts Website and/or the Devon Youth Shaped Facebook and Twitter pages.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR LEADERS?
By 2018 the aim is to have 80% of Young People shaping their Scouting in partnership with adults.
As Leaders we encourage Scouts to develop as young adults and offer exciting opportunities whilst being inspiring at the same time. All leaders have the skills already to encourage Young people to have their say on all decisions which affect them in Scouting. It is now about giving Scouts the chance to speak out and have their say.
WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HOLD?
The next few months are an exciting time for all Scouts in Devon, as well as across the Country. The County Youth Shaped Team are looking to attend as many events up and down the County in order to get the views of Scouts across Devon.

Russian Jamboree 2016
Devon Explorers have put together a small experienced leadership team, to take a small group of Explorers to the 8th Russian JAMBOREE at Borodino.
The organisers are expecting this jamboree to have about 1000 young people attending and looks like a scouting skill jamboree. it will be small by modern standards but we think will be the most culturally interesting that Devon Explorers have ever attended. Find out more
Finland International Jamboree 2016
This is a fantastic opportunity to attend one of the larger International Jamborees. The Finland International Jamboree will have about 15,000 Scouts attending with about 1,500 of these being international Scouts (from outside Finland). The jamboree will be held in a wild forest location in southern Finland and will offer not only bucket loads of activities, but also the opportunity to explore the wider family of Scouting and make friends from all over the world. Finland Explorer Belt 2016
In 2016, a group of Devon Explorers intend to embark on an incredible Adventure to achieve their Explorer Belt Award. A lot is left to do but preparations are already underway.
The Explorer Belt is a whole new experience which is completely different to anything you’ll have done in scouting before. It involves those taking part to organise things for themselves and to plan the journey themselves with help and support from their leadership team. This specific one is to Finland, through Sweden, to finish at Roihu, the Finnish International Jamboree which another group of Devon Explorers will be taking part in. Find out more
